John Mintel
PT, DPT
Physical Therapist
I originally grew up in Rahway, New Jersey, and moved to Mt. Arlington on Lake Hopatcong after graduating from high school. I then attended Seton Hall University, where I was part of the University’s combined 3+3 Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program. There, I earned my bachelor’s degree in Biology before completing my Doctor of Physical Therapy degree.
During my time at Seton Hall, I completed three clinical rotations that provided experience across a diverse range of physical therapy settings and patient populations. My first rotation was with Ivy Rehab in Andover, where I treated patients with orthopedic conditions including post-op rehabilitation, neck and back pain, and shoulder injuries. I then completed a rotation with FOX Rehab, providing home care at Mt. Arlington Senior Living, where I worked primarily with older adults on strength, balance, gait, and functional mobility.
My final rotation was at Newton Medical Center, where I provided acute care physical therapy for medically complex patients, including those recovering from stroke, surgery, and other acute medical conditions. Each of these experiences strengthened my clinical skills and reinforced the importance of providing individualized care to every patient. While I enjoyed every setting, my passion ultimately led me back to outpatient orthopedics because of the opportunity to build lasting relationships with patients and help them return to the activities they enjoy most.

One of the greatest challenges many patients face isn’t just pain—it’s the frustration of temporarily losing the ability to do the activities they love. Whether it’s returning to sports, keeping up with family, or simply moving without discomfort, recovery can feel overwhelming. I strive to be the person who helps patients regain confidence, stay motivated through the rehab process, and build lasting habits that allow them to return stronger than before.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, playing the guitar, playing board games, golfing, snowboarding, and going to the gym.
